Overview

Cocoen ("we", "us", "our") is an English learning platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website or apps, you consent to this Policy.

Information We Collect

• Account information: your email address and profile details (e.g., name, avatar) when signing in, including via Google OAuth.
• Profile and preferences: nickname, avatar URL, and lightweight settings saved to your account or browser storage.
• Learning content: pages/notes you create, saved words, and other study artifacts stored for your use.
• Optional integrations: if you connect external services (e.g., iTalki), we store lesson metadata (teacher name, language, time, status) to power features. We do not store your external service passwords.
• Usage data: basic logs necessary to operate and secure the service (e.g., error logs, request timing). We currently do not use third‑party analytics.

How We Use Information

• Authenticate you and maintain your session.
• Provide core features such as notes, dictionary, podcasts, and lesson tools.
• Improve reliability, performance, and security.
• Respond to support requests and communicate important changes.

Data Storage and Processors

We use Supabase as our database and authentication provider. When you choose Google OAuth, Google acts as an identity provider. Lesson data imported from iTalki is stored in our database to support learning features.

Access to production data is restricted. Role‑based policies protect user content.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers strictly necessary to operate Cocoen (e.g., Supabase, Google OAuth) or when required by law.

Retention

We retain account data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and related content, after which we remove or anonymize associated records within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law.

Your Rights

• Access, update, or delete your profile and content.
• Disconnect optional integrations at any time.
• Request a copy of your data or deletion via support.

Security

We apply industry‑standard safeguards and Supabase’s security features. No system is perfectly secure; we continuously improve protections and monitor for issues.

Children

Cocoen is intended for users 13 and older. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us to remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. We will indicate the effective date and, when significant, provide notice within the app.
